IT Support has received many calls informing us of problems connecting to the internet through out 
Main Campus and North Campus.  
Users who are already connected seem to be fine, but users trying to establish a new connection are either unsuccessful or taking a long time to connect.

There will be intermittent telephone service availability during this time period. 
If phone issues occur after the maintenance window please enter a Help.UNM ticket or contact the IT Service Desk at 277-5757.
</description><link>http://it.unm.edu/alerts/computing.php#C2704</link><pubDate>Tue, 21 Feb 2012 14:03:13 MST</pubDate></item><item><title>Updated February Schedule:  Network Upgrade Project Phase 5   11/22/2011 through 5/31/2012</title><description>On a rolling Tuesday or Thursday schedule, from 7 am - 10 am, 11/22/2011 through 5/31/2012, IT will move forward with Phase 5 of the campus-wide network upgrade  project. Network switches in the buildings listed below will be refreshed and aging equipment replaced to improve network performance and resilience.  For each building listed, on the date specified, the upgrade will require a 2 to 3 hour shutdown of all network functions (including Internet, wireless, e-mail, Banner and other online services).
 
If there is a business reason the schedule of downtime will not work for a building, as soon as possible request your building owner notify IT Customer Support Services (CSS) at 277-5757 so the schedule can be modified and a better date identified.

This is due to the need to upgrade infrastructure and exacerbated by student orientation, when demand is localized on the structure cell site. We are waiting for a carrier upgrade.
